A D3 Masquerading as a D80 →
Abes of Maine’s site has a wrong picture of Nikon D80 digital SLR camera (to which I will upgrade from my D40x at some point). That is a $5,000 D3, rather than a D80. I’ve e-mailed the company to let them know more than a month ago, but they still haven’t changed the picture. The strangest thing is that the camera in the picture actually is labeled “D80” on its silver badge!

iTunes Movie rental works pretty well
On Saturday, we rented “27 Dresses” from the iTunes Movie rental. It worked pretty well, although I let the movie download ahead of time for about an hour before we started watching it.

Students’ Lack of Basic Manners?
This has happened several times over the past year—students simply barge into my office when my office door is shut. The door is not propped open or ajar—it’s shut, and some students simply open and walk right in without knocking. Today one of my students showed up early for an appointment. He was scheduled to come by at 1PM. He opened the door and walked into my office at 12:25PM, while I was...

Hello, My Name is Moonhawk! →
I posted this over a year ago at my now-defunct Vox blog, but it’s still relevant. The scenarios still happen, although I think I’ve become more desensitized to them…

Cell Phone # Portability = Local Number... →
Although I don’t plan to transfer our T-Mobile family plan phone numbers to a different carrier any time soon, I decided to look into how the number portability would work. It turns out, that the portability is restricted to local areas. I currently have a number with the San Francisco area code but the cell phone service is billed to Boulder, CO. Since San Francisco and Boulder are not in the...

Run, Pancake, Run!!
Pancake went for a little run yesterday. He launched himself on to me inside the house when I was about to step out and go get the mail. So I figured, okay, I will walk out with him. As soon as we got to the bottom of our stairs outside, he jumped off, ran around the side and to the back of the house to the other (west) side of the house. That’s where, in the past, he’d got cornered...

Hello, Deer!
On my way back from NBRC this morning, I saw a big deer at the northeast corner of Pearl Street and 9th Street. It walked up to the crosswalk and patiently waited for the light to change. I was stopped at the same light, although in a car, only about 20 feet away. When the light turned green—or white for the crosswalk—the deer started walking across. For some reason, however, halfway across the...
