The Moving Target of Raising a Baby
So, the bottom line is that new parents of a baby cannot and should not become complacent. Xander and I have been on a good routine with his feeding lately: puréed fruits with rice cereal and half a Yo Baby yogurt in the morning; oatmeal with puréed sweet potatoes and assorted puréed veggies and fruit purée for lunch; and oatmeal with mashed avocado and assorted puréed veggies and fruit purée for dinner. The theme, of course, is smushed food.
It turns out we are supposed to start giving him chunks of food around his age—e.g. diced fruits, cubes of cheese, mashed boiled egg yolks, etc. It doesn’t help that we have been neglecting to keep up with our reading of What to Expect The First Year. Parenting is not easy.
