“A Dream Sequence” @dailyshoot assignment #ds116 was to break a typical photography rule. I shot completely out of focus for this. I like the colors.
“It’s Not Delivery” — Pizza and beer for dinner—very bachelor…. @dailyshoot #ds110
“Negative Vase” — I thought about putting a flower in the vase created by the negative space between two mugs but didn’t have one handy. @dailyshoot #ds102 for negative space.
“Blue Snow” — Of course snow is never quite white. I could have played with the white balance a bit but didn’t. #ds100 for monochrome @dailyshoot
“Moose” — This is a lawn ornament outside a house on Pearl. No post-processing other than straightening and cropping. #ds98 tricky backgrounds for @dailyshoot
“Bee Bim Bop—It’s What’s for Dinner” — The only way to get some good Korean food in Colorado…Mom’s cooking. This was shot for assignment #ds95 of @dailyshoot.
“International Platonic Love” Quacky the Duck from somewhere in the U.S.; Harry the Bear from a Harrods in U.K., Moose the Moose from Sweden. They love one another. Assignment #ds91 of @dailyshoot on Valentine’s Day was to do some interpretive photo of what love is.
“Three Hearts” — Presumably a custom-made fence at a house on Pearl at 4th Street. @dailyshoot #ds90 The assignment was to shoot an odd or an even number of subjects.
“Pancake—The Only Functioning Stuffed Animal” — This was Susanne’s idea for the #ds85 shot of the @dailyshoot assignment. She always says that’s what our 18-month-old thinks of the cat.
“Curve” — @dailyshoot #ds83
“Quacky Winter” — I never understood why ducks winter in Boulder. They should have flown farther south while they were at it. In any case, as long as they are here, it’s winter here. This was shot with a 50mm on a DX body—so I was very close to them! @dailyshoot #ds79
“The Lanyard and the Mount” — Assignment #74 for Daily Shoot was to capture the economy or its impact on people. Most people ended up shooting how the economy—or the economic crisis and the recession—adversely affected them.
What I shot—the lanyard and the mount for a camera strap by Luma Labs—captures something different. They capture the creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit within the American economy. Even during a deep recession, people around the country devise and implement innovative ideas, manifesting in new physical products, business ideas or creative endeavors online. The new camera strap and the accessories surrounding it by James Duncan Davidson and Greg Koenig capture that spirit and implementation perfectly.
“Downspout” — One of many at Boulder Day Nursery, a beautiful historic building. @dailyshoot #ds76
“If It’s Not a Right Angle, It’s a Wrong Angle” — @dailyshoot #ds71 Bonus points for knowing what show and episode inspired the title.
“Light My Heart” — I used @dailyshoot #ds70 assignment to use a long exposure as an opportunity to finally try light painting. It was surprisingly easy.
