“Straight to the Accident” — I did not set up this shot. I found the toy ambulance like this when I came home from work today. I thought it would make an interesting photo for today’s @dailyshoot assignment #ds215 to have lines leading to the subject. I think I need a depth-of-field calculator, because this did not turn out exactly as I wanted.
“A Tree in a Forest” — @dailyshoot #ds214 for a shallow depth of field. Here’s a link to the also-ran that did not make the cut.
“Empty” — This is an empty pay-phone stand on 3rd Street at Canyon Boulevard. It’s rare to see functioning pay-phones around anymore these days, except at airports. But it’s interesting how the telecom companies took the phones out but left the empty stands. Perhaps the phone here was not taken by the telecom company. Regardless of who took it out, the stand stands empty. Shot for @dailyshoot #ds212
“Stars, Stripes and a Pole” — Yesterday’s assignment, but I didn’t find any flags yesterday. This is outside the Boulder Main Postoffice on Walnut at 15th Street. [Yes, outside of this.] @dailyshoot #ds211
“Mailboxes” — Postoffice mailboxes at the Boulder Main Postoffice on Walnut at 15th Street. I wonder how the combination locks work. @dailyshoot #ds205 for repetition
“All Aboard!” — Interesting Sunday challenge assignment (#ds210) for @dailyshoot. It was essentially a DIY filter. I wrapped the front of the lens with a plastic wrap and then smeared it with some liquid hand soap, which resulted in this dreamy look, somewhat like Lens Baby.
“Rethink & Restore” — I don’t like it when I have to set up shots, but doing that is still good practice. It was nice to shoot with my thrifty-fifty after shooting only with the 18-200 for a while. @dailyshoot #ds208 for reduce, reuse and recycle.
“Big Pig / Little Pig” — @dailyshoot #ds207 for contrasting size. Another toy shot was way overdue. It was funny to find another “big pig / little pig” shot by someone else for the assignment.
“Dandelion” — Near the Boulder Creek multi-use path. Somewhat similar in composition to this one. @dailyshoot #ds199 for plant life, low, close and wide.
“I Can Never Tell Time with This” — This is the sundial between Ketchum Hall (in the background) and Norlin Library on CU Boulder campus. As far as I can tell, it’s off by an hour due to daylight savings, but I cannot tell the time exactly much beyond that. Shot for @dailyshoot #ds194 for clocks.
“Stars and Stripes Pinwheel”
Rally Sport in Boulder hosted a members and friends appreciation pool party today. They had food catered from Laudisio, and beer from Upslope Brewing Company. For the kids, they had little frog floating toys (the green background) and stars-and-stripes pinwheels.
Although Memorial Day is to remind everyone in the country to think about veterans and servicemen and women at least once a year, it marks the official beginning of the summer for most everyone. The photo captures the juxtaposition (schizophrenia?) of Memorial Day in the U.S.
Daily Shoot Assignment #197 to photography what symbolizes Memorial Day.
“Colorful Sky” — I was a day late on this assignment @dailyshoot #ds195. It was a beautiful late spring/early summer day on Sunday in Boulder, the second day of the annual Boulder Creek Festival. While we were walking over there, Susanne made a quick pit stop. I took the opportunity to lie down and shoot the sky.
“Flower(s)” — I don’t know what it’s called. It grows outside our house. @dailyshoot #ds192 for square-frame composition.
“Empty Sippy Cup” — This is one dramatic sippy cup…. @dailyshoot #ds191 for focus with a plain background.
“Norlin Library” — @dailyshoot #ds189 for a landscape. The inscription on the front of the building reads “Who Knows Only His Own Generation Remains Always a Child.”
