“Gummy Frogs” — I ordered a Rogue FlashBender Smaller Positionable Reflector from ExpoImaging. After one-day delay in Memphis due to severe thunderstorms, the order arrived today. I was pleasantly surprised to find this in the envelope along with the FlashBender, and I was even more surprised to find out that they still tasted good after traveling across the country from Watsonville, CA! (These were like the rawwwwwwwrs that PhotoJojo includes in their orders, except with more ribbbbbbet.) As for the FlashBender, I just started using it this evening and look forward to learning more about how to shape the light. (photo via my Flickr)
“The Lanyard and the Mount” — Assignment #74 for Daily Shoot was to capture the economy or its impact on people. Most people ended up shooting how the economy—or the economic crisis and the recession—adversely affected them.
What I shot—the lanyard and the mount for a camera strap by Luma Labs—captures something different. They capture the creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit within the American economy. Even during a deep recession, people around the country devise and implement innovative ideas, manifesting in new physical products, business ideas or creative endeavors online. The new camera strap and the accessories surrounding it by James Duncan Davidson and Greg Koenig capture that spirit and implementation perfectly.
A D3 Masquerading as a D80
Abes of Maine’s site has a wrong picture of Nikon D80 digital SLR camera (to which I will upgrade from my D40x at some point). That is a $5,000 D3, rather than a D80. I’ve e-mailed the company to let them know more than a month ago, but they still haven’t changed the picture. The strangest thing is that the camera in the picture actually is labeled “D80” on its silver badge!
